Lab reorganization

Since the summer period has officially started, the annual lab re-organization has begun. Big items today were

• Moving the PPMS to a better & more open location
• Rack mounting all the dI/dV and IETS electronics & rewiring everything
• Carving out an area for the drill press & tools 
• Reorganizing electrical components & parts

Coming tomorrow (I hope)

• Moving the gas cylinder mount closer to the new PPMS location
• General filth removal ... why things get so dusty I'll never understand
• Another great tool reorganization and inventory
• Setup up the noise measurement equipment
• Nuke most of the Win boxes from orbit and reinstall (or just port the software to OS X someday)

Pics to follow tomorrow I hope. Things are already looking nicer & more organized, and it feels like we somehow have a lot more space ... in spite of acquiring a whole pile of surplus equipment and having way, way too much stuff in the lab!
